Peruvian National Archaeology & Anthropology Museum
The
collections of the MNAAHP are composed by ceramic, textile, stone,
organic, metallic objects, and human remains corresponding to preHispanic
times; plus objects corresponding to the colonial and republican periods;
and written, graphical and digital documentation, as well as books of
scientific and cultural value, relating to each.
The Metals Collection lodges a collection of
metal preHispanic pieces of approximately 11.000 units. These pieces
represent the metallurgical development of the center-Andean region from
the Formative Period to the domination by the Inca. There are a great
variety of gold objects, silver pieces and alloys elaborated with
sophisticated techniques of manufacture and decoration. This collection is
formed by unique specimens such as: gold ornaments, gilded pieces, with
part of the collection originating from elite tombs, from San Lorenzo
among others.
